The global economic and social impacts of counterfeiting and piracy - including lost jobs

BASCAP (Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy) was established by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). In February 2011, BASCAP published a report on the global impacts of Counterfeiting and piracy.

The report eg estimes that "approximately 2.5 million jobs have been destroyed by counterfeiting and piracy".

The report further estimes that "the global value of counterfeit and pirated products could be up to $1.77 trillion by 2015".
